Worldly relationships are unreal

Worldly relationships are unreal

Excerpts from Baba's speech

A person thought that this world is real and permanent.  A Swami tried telling him, ‘This world, your wife, children, family, everything is false.  Don’t believe anything.’  But he was not convinced.  So the Swami tells him, ‘I will give him a pill.  You consume it in the morning!  You seem to have become lifeless but will still be fully conscious.  Then you’ll get to know the world.  I’ll come and rescue you.’  The person consumes the pill the next day and pretends death.  The Swami comes to his home.  Everybody in the family were weeping over his body.  ‘Swami, my husband has died unexpectedly.’ cries his wife.  On hearing this the Swami says, ‘I can save him.  But, some one else would have to sacrifice their life inorder to rescue his!’  His aged parents replied, ‘We still have seen Kasi, Rameshwaram and other pilgrim centers.  We cannot go now.’  When he asked the children they replied, ‘Our mother will take care of us.  It is alright if father is not there!’  The Swami then said to his wife, ‘You seem to be crying the most… if you can sacrifice your life I will be able to redeem the life of your husband.’  But his wife replied, ‘He was a drunkard when he was living.  Let him go, I’ll be able to take care of these people!’  The Swami asked in surprise, ‘What’s this?  If one of you can sacrifice your life, I can save him… what to do?’  Then all five of them ran to the Swami held his hands and said in unison, ‘Swami! You don’t have any children or any relationships.  You have no wants!  Therefore, please give your life and save his.  We will construct a big Samadhi for you and on your memorial day, we will offer you vada, payasam as ‘Neiveidhyam’ and then consume it.  The Swami fled from the place.
